Participating as a Mentor
Who can become a mentor?
- Professors, private lecturers and postdocs from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law
- We welcome mentors of all genders
Tasks
As an ARIADNErewi mentor, you
- advise one female early career researcher on academic qualifications and careers based on your experience,
- share “informal knowledge”, i.e. you provide insight into the rules of the game and working cultures at the university,
- encourage networking and facilitate new contacts,
- support your mentee with constructive feedback, help to specify goals and point out opportunities to realize them.
Requirements
In order to fulfill these tasks well, mentors should have the following qualities:
- Professional and life experience in the areas relevant to the mentee
- Openness and willingness to pass on experience
- Appropriate availability for mentoring the mentee
- Interest in the mentee’s career planning
- A functioning network of contacts (“door opener”)
- Discretion
How you may benefit from the mentoring relationship:
- Expansion of your consulting and leadership skills
- Expansion of your own network
- Opportunity to reflect on your own career path
- Possible new impetus for your own research activities

Applications to become a mentor are possible at any time.
Please complete the online profile form for mentors. The information in the profile form are the basis for us to match mentor and mentee.
